OUR AFFILIATIONS

We are part of the “believers’ church” tradition which emerged from the radical Reformation and Puritanism in Europe and has been influenced by pietism, the American awakenings and revivals, the 19^th century missions movement, and 20^th century evangelical church growth.  More than being “baptist”, we are committed to being “biblical and evangelical” and welcome members from a variety of traditions.

The First Baptist Church of Freeport belongs to the Bowdoinham Association of the American Baptist Churches of Maine which is one of thirty-five Regions of the American Baptist Churches/USA.

We are glad to belong to that historic stream of biblical and Christ-centered Christians who planted most of the Maine Baptist churches and supported the first American missionaries.

For more than thirty years, we have also been affiliated with the National Association of Evangelicals. 

We also maintain connections with Vision New England, and the Christian Civic League of Maine.

Most significantly, we belong to that worldwide community of disciples known as the Church of Jesus Christ.  He is our Savior and Lord; we belong to him.
